Assistant Club Manager
Part-time Summer Position, Hourly
Springwood Swim Club ((referred to here as “SCC”) is seeking an energetic, experienced assistant manager to join our team and assist the Club Manager in ensuring that the club is operated in a safe, clean and fun environment for our members and their guests in line with the Club’s values of:
“Respect, Responsibility, Family Fun and Community”
SCC is a privately held membership only club with approximately 200-250 households overseen by a Board of Governors (referred to here as BOG”), elected from and by the club membership for a three year term. Board members are uncompensated volunteers who work in the best interests of the entire group of bondholders and seasonal members. The Club is open to members from Memorial Day to Labor Day each season. Facilities include a heated, spring-fed pool with salt water filtration system, 6 lane, 105 foot pool with diving area, zero-entry kiddie pool, tennis and basketball courts, patio, grove, picnic and barbecue area, and children’s playground. The Club’s Dolphin Swim Team participates in hosting meets during the summer season. Family, children and adult activities are planned and coordinated throughout the season by the Board of Governors and operated in conjunction with the Club’s staff. The facility is contracted by local Summer Day Camps during the week to provide an opportunity for campers to swim and attend swim lessons.

- Assist Club Manager in club operations, maintenance, and administration. The position is full-time during the summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and includes support both the month before opening for club preparations and the month after closing for club winterization.
- Perform manager duties in absence of the Club Manager
- Ensure club rules are enforced and be the primary point of contact in the absence of the Club Manager
- Help run day-to-day group lessons and summer camp programs
- Supervise lifeguard staff guarding the pool
- Supervise staff performing non-guard related task, e.g., front desk, grounds maintenance, cleaning, trash pick-up etc.
- Help onboard staff during orientation
- Oversee set-up and breakdown furniture & equipment for meets, parties, and other events
- Delegate/perform jobs on daily list of duties
- Monitor performance of staff to ensure work is completed satisfactorily
- Perform periodic safety and security checks
- Perform/supervise chemical readings and adjustments
- Help train staff in lifeguarding and non-lifeguarding duties and/or projects
- Inform Club Manager of all activities or issues around the pool facility that require his/her attention
- Perform all regular lifeguarding duties, including watching the pool daily as needed
- Open and/or close the pool for the day in accordance with work schedule and ensure all staff duties have been completed
- Supply information to staff and members about events and activities
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Required Certifications:
- Certified Pool Operator preferred
- CPR and First Aid
- Lifeguard Certification
- Prior experience in pool management desired
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills to deal with a membership that has high standards and expectations as well as a staff that is young and inexperienced.
- Able to work unconventional hours: Early bird swim (8 am), Swim/Dive meets/carnivals, evening social events (as late as 11 midnight)
- Available to work from Opening day to end of summer season including Memorial and Labor Day weekends, and 4th of July
- Able to work 40 hours or more per week during busy periods at the pool
- Manual labor is required.
- Ability to work with pool chemicals.
- Physical exertions to manually move, lift, carry, or push heavy objects.
- Climbing in and out of the swimming pool, up and down ladders.
- Extreme weather conditions may be a factor in this position.
